Peaceful New Year & New Moon Blessings

It’s New year’s Eve !

What better time to have a peaceful party for peace.
Well, not a ‘party’ as such, more of a gathering of like minds in solidarity ;~)
Riding the waves of the energy shift towards a new dawn for Earth.

As the birds sing in the dawn,
so a new light dawns on planet Earth.
Solidarity
Planets connect in love and peace.

“Here,New Moon
in this moment –
there is a gathering
of kindred spirits,
and all there is to do
is to allow
a quieting down –
just a little,Stonehenge stars
just enough to hear
a soft whisper
of calm and of peace
and then ever so gently
taking one more step
just a little deeper,
here,Sun meditator
in the calmest part
of each of our hearts
as we gather
in the peace
of this place.”

a wild mind won’t find a peaceful place

B4Peace October: This month’s Peace Challenge – a Dream of Peace, is kind of aborted before it’s started. All apologies.

I have the most chaotically un-peaceful mind just now, which doesn’t even want to sit still, let alone watch the shallow breathing that’s going on.

insomnia

My uncontrolled mind just wants to sleep, which it can’t; or watch random movie trailers on You Tube.
(and I know I’m not the only one.)
Yup. Failing to find oblivion and desperate for release, my mind is scrabbling around for whatever easy and vacuous distraction it can find.
Anything but the tears/depression/anxiety/hopeless internal rage. And did I mention the tears?

Perverse isn’t it?
My agitated mind doesn’t even want peace!
I do, I want to sit quietly, being peace. I’m missing that blissful state of mind.

** I’m trying to count my breaths, which does seem to help :~)

My Dream of Peaceful Place

So I think that’s what my Dream of a Peaceful World would be like.
It would be a world where everybody genuinely wanted peace, and everyone knew how to get it.
And could!

* Where the power hungry destroying our planet, and the discontented wasting their time surfing online, were equally rich in inner wisdom.
✿ڿڰۣ

Then naturally, beauty and order would prevail.
And the world would be a peaceful place.

The Universe is abundant. There is quite enough time, space, food, water and resources for us all.
* This is scientific fact as well
So there’s no reason for anybody to go short; and certainly no good reason for anyone else to think that they should.

All beings would be regarded as equal, whatever their age, gender, race, belief system or species.
(The species thing is important. We can’t have real peace if behind closed doors or across the world, others are screaming out in pain, just not in our language.)

Where everyone is authentic to themselves and others.
There’s no point in deceit, so why do it?
Just be honest with yourself and others, and wish sincerely for their happiness.
Much better.

“Whatever you do in this world,
always be true to yourself.”

in fact…

all U need is love

all we need is love

The Bell Meditation

“It’s the silence between the notes
that makes the music.”

– Zen Proverb

Figure from Pompeii

And it’s in the silent places in our mind where we find peace.
None of us want to be troubled and unhappy, but sometimes we just are.

This lack of peace in our own minds makes us experience and promote an unpeaceful world, causing feeling of disquiet to ripple outward from us.

(̆̃̃ڿڰۣ✿

Thich Nhat Hanh

So if we think, ‘I can’t do this’, or “What is the use of doing this? We may say that I do this because I want peace, I want happiness, I want healing and transformation. So the practice is the means, and healing and transformation is the end.”

˘˘
This sounds dualistic, but in reality it is a no-dualistic approach to healing, and to practice. We breathe in such a way that healing and peace are right here, in each breath. The means becomes the end, and there is no distinction between them.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.”

Quotes from Thich Nhat Hanh,

The sound of the bell brings us back to peace

The Bell Meditation

We find peace in our mind by using the sound of the bell to bring us back to ‘the safe island of mindfulness.’
It is a simple means of bringing the mind back to it’s natural state of equilibrium.

* The titles here are each links – to Tich’s introduction, and to the bell meditation itself.

As Thich invites the bell to sound, he is also inviting us to share in the peace it radiates. The warm richness of the sound envelops us, inviting our minds to find total relaxation there.

We can use this next half hour to still our minds, and find our freedom within.
Just for the next half hour, where else would we want to be?

And what what better feeling to share with the world.

* The Bell Meditation

We find peace in our mind by using the sound of the bell to bring us back to ‘the safe island of mindfulness.’
It is a simple means of bringing the mind back to it’s natural state of equilibrium.

For me, it is like the Breathing Meditation by Gen Tharchin, with the meaning of his words implied by the bell.
Within these meditations there are deeper and deeper levels of meaning for us to explore; each more beautiful than the last.

Breathing Meditation by Gen Tharchin

To take an effective break, you just need to let go for awhile.
Put your thoughts on hold.

Just sit back, close your eyes and let go.
Whatever you were thinking about just then will wait for 5 or 10 minutes.

Follow your breath for awhile and come back refreshed.
Let the yogi Gen Tharchin tell us how…

* • .¸

GenTarchin @ Tharpaland

☆ *  ‘

“Sit in a relaxed comfortable position, with your back as straight as possible without being uncomfortable or tense.

And now scan through you body, looking at all the different parts of your body, one at a time, to make sure they’re comfortable and relaxed, free from tension or strain.
If you find any areas of tension, relax them.

And now turn your attention to the subtle sensation at the tip of your nostrils, or perhaps just inside your nostrils [or even on your lips], associated with each inhalation, each exhalation of the breath.

For a few moments, notice the slightly cooler sensation associated with the inhalation; and the slightly warming sensation, or pressure, associated with the exhalation.”

In this way, just observe the subtle tactile sensation of the breath for a few minutes.

As you finish, you may want to add ‘for the highest good of all’,
then slowly and gently come back your normal state of awareness.

Taken from the first 3 minutes of a meditation given by Gen Kelsang Tharchin, fully qualified meditation master, at MKMC in 2011.

the Ascension Continues within Us

Ascension is a state of Mind

remember

Ascension is a state of mind, as is everything – the weather outside, this monitor we’re looking at, even ourselves.
So just how the Ascension energies affected us will be different for everyone.
But what happens now?
Well that’s up to us. Just as the affects of the Ascension were felt internally, progression has to be on an internal level. It is our mind that’s creating this world, so for the positive change to continue, we have to cultivate and maintain a light and loving state of mind.

a Whole Year’s Gone By ~ Expanding our Minds with Love

Our kind site hosts, WordPress, have given me an award for a whole year’s worth of blogging.
← That’s it 🙂

(Or ↑ depending on how you’re viewing this page.
I think it’s meant to be more symbolic than aesthetically impressive BTW ;~)
A whole year! In most ways it’s flown by. Last Autumn doesn’t seem like yesterday.

   * •. ¸

In blogging terms? It’s got that dream-like quality of being out of time.
It feels lovely to sit here in front of my monitor and communicate with hundreds of other people.
Technically I’ve just my doggies here with me now.
Actually I feel like I’m reaching out through cyber space, sharing hugs and smiles and affectionate love.

Meditation – Expand the Mind with Love

When I meditate on this feeling, it feels like my heart is so full of love; it’s expanding out in ever increasing ripples of peace to everyone there is.
Soon the world is covered in fluffy pink clouds of love, and every living being in this world feels just a little bit better.
I like that.*

*Even if it sounds a bit icky; when I can do it, it feels good :~)
Highly recommended.
We can even do it like a Tantric practice, expanding our heart of love so that it fills the cosmos, colouring everything with a lighter mind, and filling all worlds with pure, unconditional love.
Then our heart gradually draws back in, leaving everything in its wake pure and blissful. As our heart returns to it’s proper size and place, we can follow it there with our mind and rest here awhile, our mind absorbed in this peace and love.

Local News : Training in Mindfulness & Concentration – Afternoon Course

Gen Chönden

This short course on training in mindfulness and concentration, will present methods for developing the main mental functions that we use when we meditate.

Sunday 28 October, 2 – 5pm*
Amitabha Buddhist Centre, Bristol, UK

* There will be an opportunity to do a short retreat in December for those who follow the training.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the life force of meditation” – Geshe Kelsang.
It’s function is to prevent distractions, so that we don’t forget what we’re meditating on. It’s that simple, and that difficult!

Concentration

Concentration depends upon mindfulness. It is the ability to focus the mind on a particular object, and remain there without moving away from it.
We use these two mental factors to meditate on an object – penetrating deep into the heart of it, staying with it, and fully understanding it.

Retreat

It is important to study and learn about Buddhist teachings, and to meditate daily. But it is only on retreat that we really familiarise ourselves enough with Buddha’s teachings to change our minds on a fundamental level.

World Peace

Making up WMD makes as much sense as sending in ‘peace-keeping forces’.
We can never hope to achieve world peace with violence and guns.

Hatred and anger beget more hatred and anger.
“An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind ” ~ Gandhi

World peace can only be achieved if we first establish peace within our own minds. So moment by moment, on occasions such as this,
we are creating world peace.

  = 🙂

When i see phenomena like this being created, it gives me hope that together we can really make a better world.

Tune into the Tsongkhapa Empowerment – Sun July 22nd Meditation / Contemplation

Gen Kelsang Dekyong will be giving the Je Tsongkhapa empowerment at Manjushri Centre in Cumbria on Sunday. The session begins at 4pm GMT.

We can be there in mind if not in body. And since the  definitive Je Tsongkhapa pervades the entire universe; we can be sure that he is most definitely here with us.

Je Tsongkhapa and Sons

Migtsema prayer

Tsongkhapa, crown ornament of the scholars of the Land of the Snows,
You are Avalokiteshvara, the treasury of unobservable compassion,
Manjushri, the supreme stainless wisdom,
And Vajrapani, the destroyer of the hosts of maras;
O Losang Dragpa I request you, please grant your blessings.

 Tune in to the Blessings

~ Meditate or just Contemplate

Find a quiet space, and settle down to meditate.
If this isn’t possible, just thinking about Tsongkhapa will allow him to bless your mind ~ much like opening the shutters on a sunny day lets the sun in.

_/\_

We can allow our body to relax and our mind to clear.
Sit in a relaxed, comfortable position, with our back as straight as possible.
Follow the breath for awhile ~ the in-breath, the out-breath, the natural process of breathing.

When we’ve achieved some stillness in our mind, we can turn our attention to the empowerment.
A short prayer is good; or even just setting the good intention that doing this might be of benefit to ourselves and others.

We can allow ourselves to feel close to our Guru, Tsongkhapa and Gen Dekyong, (any or all is fine).
If this brings a smile, all the better.

Dekyong giving the empowerment is like a program being broadcast over the radio waves. Tuning our attention into Je Tsongkhapa at this time, is like turning our radio on.
By doing this we can be sure that we are receiving something of the transmission.

When we’ve finished our meditation, dedicate our merit for the benefit of all living beings; and we can rise from our session knowing that a difference has been made.

NB.
Distance is an illusion created by our ignorant minds, and these blessings are powerful.
Of course it’s better to be there, but if we are unable to, then tuning our mind into this frequency works a treat.

Sharing this will help flourish Dharma and world peace  _/\_
