Abundant Bull Moon on Protector Day

Kangso, Jupiter and a Bright Full Moon

Jupiter sitting next to a bright full moon was the beautiful sight greeting me when I opened the front door yesterday morning. Cradled by clouds, with an icy halo, she shone with potent expectancy and power.

* • .¸  This full moon at the end of November brings the energy that leads to abundance & wealth.

My picture doesn’t do her justice; but she was like the bull’s eye in the constellation of Taurus, blazing bright.

The dot at her lower left hand corner is actually Jupiter, which the largest of all the planets. Representing the Lord of Plenty, he shows the way to to a rich and abundant life.
Being in Taurus reinforces this. There was a lunar eclipse in Gemini on the 28th November, “in the stormy Hyades star cluster found dappled along the face of Taurus, the Bull.” (Dark Star Astrology) This gives the feeling of being in of eye of the storm; so a good time to watch our minds, and make sure those stormy emotions don’t take ahold and lead us into trouble.

But it’s also a time when our minds are sharp. So if we can reign in those strong passions, and use them as fuel, directing them to a desired end, success could well be ours.
This is, after all, a moon of prosperity and beneficence.

And that’s the thing; we need resources, but if we don’t share them, they mean nothing. It’s the giving mind that creates  abundance in return.
From giving comes wealth” the Protector Nagarjuna said.

Weekend Wisdom: The Crazy Ones

So is it crazy to think “that sending out loving vibes and positive energy has a beneficial effect on the world around us” ?..

☆ * •. ¸

The most amazing people who have ever lived, from Buddha to Einstein to whoever inspires us in the here and now, to be better people don’t think so.

So who are we to hide our light,
and deny the world our power of love?

a Whole Year’s Gone By ~ Expanding our Minds with Love

Our kind site hosts, WordPress, have given me an award for a whole year’s worth of blogging.
← That’s it 🙂

(Or ↑ depending on how you’re viewing this page.
I think it’s meant to be more symbolic than aesthetically impressive BTW ;~)
A whole year! In most ways it’s flown by. Last Autumn doesn’t seem like yesterday.

   * •. ¸

In blogging terms? It’s got that dream-like quality of being out of time.
It feels lovely to sit here in front of my monitor and communicate with hundreds of other people.
Technically I’ve just my doggies here with me now.
Actually I feel like I’m reaching out through cyber space, sharing hugs and smiles and affectionate love.

Meditation – Expand the Mind with Love

When I meditate on this feeling, it feels like my heart is so full of love; it’s expanding out in ever increasing ripples of peace to everyone there is.
Soon the world is covered in fluffy pink clouds of love, and every living being in this world feels just a little bit better.
I like that.*

*Even if it sounds a bit icky; when I can do it, it feels good :~)
Highly recommended.
We can even do it like a Tantric practice, expanding our heart of love so that it fills the cosmos, colouring everything with a lighter mind, and filling all worlds with pure, unconditional love.
Then our heart gradually draws back in, leaving everything in its wake pure and blissful. As our heart returns to it’s proper size and place, we can follow it there with our mind and rest here awhile, our mind absorbed in this peace and love.

a politician’s colour does matter

Barack Obama

The recent Electile Dysfunction posts have made me think about race, and a politician’s colour, in a way that I hadn’t before.
I wanted Obama to win the first time, not just because he was brown skinned, but because of all that it represented. It felt like a victory for morality and common sense when he won. I’m not so sure now that he seems so keen on bombing people, but the original point still stands.

Marvin Rees

I hadn’t even noticed that Marvin Rees the Labour candidate was black until I saw him on-line when I was googling a bloggable picture. (No TV and black and white free papers does a lot for non-ascertaining perceivers.) He already had my vote by then; but it was a shock to read that he’d be the 1st black European mayor if he’d got in (which he didn’t, so he isn’t).
Really? Is our culture still that stupid?

the 1st Bristol Mayor! a National Pioneer or Electile Dysfunction?

It’s Bristol’s 1st mayoral election Thursday!

We’re only one of a handful of cities who’ve been chosen to be able to vote for an elected mayor.
I think that makes us one of the lucky few.
Despite being general disillusioned in the UK Government, which doesn’t seem any better than America’s bitch, and skins the poor while benefiting the rich; I still think there might be some hope (please?)

Does your vote count?

Uhmm, if you live in Bristol too, I’d say yes.
I’m not convinced that election results aren’t already decided and that the whole business isn’t just for show. But even if it is more or less real, as the Guardian’s Zoe Williams says, “The best you can hope is that the right charismatic wins.” This says a lot about the machinations of politics, but it’s got to be worth a try to get the right person in for the job.

Talking to my neighbours and other dog walkers, it seems that expectations are varied.
From muted enthusiasm, to being “not interested”, to another saying she says she’s not bothering to vote coz her party never gets in. Isn’t that missing the point though?

Beware the Total Solar Eclipse in Australia!

The solar eclipse today / tomorrow won’t have been visible to most of the world. The only city to experience it in its entirety was the Australian city of Cairns.
It’s worth a mention though, because as the moon obscures the sun it aligns with the bright star Unuk Snake Heart.
As the name suggests, this is likely to have a somewhat unpleasant affect on all of us, wherever we are.
And of course there’s the Mercury retrograde happening the now, which makes Mercury look like it’s going backwards in the night sky. It also makes us more sensitive than usual and prone to making mistakes. It is a great time to re-do things though. It’s a good time for going back over things and checking them through. Best give things time right now. Remember ~ more haste less speed, and a stitch in time saves nine.

This alignment could prove treacherous!

It looks like it’s possibly going to be a toxic, uncomfortable eclipse. ‘Possibly’ because it’s a challenge. We can use it to our advantage!
We can take the snake’s venom and make it an antidote, suitable for use in future poisonous attacks. Or we can just go ahead and be poisoned by it.

the Disastrous Behaviour of the Memory

Our mind creates the world we live in

Does our memory play tricks on us,
creating demons or divinities out of people?

How Our Memory Deceives Us

¸.• *
We are shaped by our thoughts;
we become what we think.”

Buddha

When we are thinking hateful things, lacerating ourselves with the bad things we ‘remember‘ people saying to us; we’re creating a most uncomfortable environment for ourselves (and those who come near us).

Alternatively, when our mind is pure, focussing on the good stuff instead,

joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.

Buddha

So what do we choose?…
